Dxo photolab panasonic g95/2/2023 ![]() Capture One and Lightroom both feel better and faster to edit in and I much prefer the highlight recovery and shadow boost in both those programs. How do you find it limited for editing otherwise? I do believe I agree with you even though really knowing why. Though if you use the little enlarged display it does give a good idea of how well it works. Deep prime apparently works quite slow and so "deep" that it can't render the entire picture before exporting. Normal and prime shows up on the main photo but deep prime only shows up in the zoomed in display under the noise reduction window. You have three options of noise reduction. Yup that is one thing that is a downside. On the other hand, I could also buy in to it much more effectively knowing exactly which lenses I want. Of course, if I were to buy in to it again it would kind of "hurt" knowing what kind of system I had. One could say I made a trade from m43 with long reach to the S1R with super wide and normal reach instead.īut there is a lot to love about m43 and I am still looking and following to see what happens from both OM Digital and Panasonic. Knowing my self I understood that the G9 wouldn't get much use as it is now.Īlso, selling the G9 and the Nocticron allowed me to get the Sigma 14-24 F2.8 and I've been wanting a super wide angle for several years now. Also, I found that the S1R is everything I love about the G9 but in an even better body and with a better sensor. While the G9 and other m43 bodies are smaller for sure, they are not small enough to put in a pocket which means I will have them in a backpack or in a sling and at that point a little extra weight and size didn't matter to me. I had intentions of keeping the G9 and the 42,5 Nocticron if nothing else but after using the S1R I realized a few things. This doesn't mean I have no intentions of getting m43 again but it depends on what happens. I sold off all my modern m43 gear and gave an E-M5, E-M1 and 12-60 and the 45 F1.8 to my father. I remember seeing a question in one thread but couldn't remember who asked it although I couldn't tell until I exported the JPEG files, as the previews still showed a lot more noise and banding.ĭC-G9 LEICA DG 100-400/F4.0-6.3 lens 400mm f/6.3 1/160s 25600 ISO -0.3 EVįinally, I'm able to answer you. Olympus should have kept all the controls the same on the two cameras.ĭxO does seem to do a better job at the extreme ISO's, too. The only thing I sold was the Olympus E-M1 Mark III - I hated that camera almost as much as I love the E-M1X. I downloaded the trial version of DxO Photolab 4, and it does render the images quite nicely, although it's pretty limited in what it can do.Į-M1X OLYMPUS M.300mm F4.0 lens 300mm f/4.0 1/200s 1250 ISO -0.3 EV Here's one with the G9 and Olympus 300F4. I started using it when I bought it a month ago or so and it has revitalized some of my older shots. Sometimes I use it for editing the entire image and sometimes I just apply image corrections and noise reduction then export it as a DNG to Capture One or Lightroom. ![]() There is a free trail for DXO and I highly recommend it. Now that the days are getting longer, I'm not having to shoot at those drastic ISO's all the time. I haven't tried DxO, but I've been curious about it. I really love your bird shots btw, they're great! Have you tried DXO Photolab 4? My results are better with DXO than Topaz, but 25600 is very high for m43 no matter what but it still nails the focus with its animal detect AF. For mostly still birds though, it is/was excellent.Įven with Topaz Denoise AI, ISO 25,600 is a bit too much for the G9. ![]() It manages to track birds in flight well (find them, track them with the square) though the actual focus of them in flight isn't very accurate. I've sold the G9 but it worked very well with both Olympus lenses and Lumix lenses. I've had very much success with the G9 animal detect (mostly used with birds) as well as the S1R which uses the same system. Panasonic's Animal AF seems to be pretty reliable even if it supposedly does not detect the subject's eyes. ![]() I'm beginning to wonder if I really need the Bird Detect AI of my E-M1X. ![]() Panasonic G9 image thread and discussion. ![]()
